Emma Hits Mardi Gras

Beautiful weather, although chilly, made for a great Saturday for Mobile Mardi Gras. It was the last full weekend of the Catholic celebration before the start of Lent. Emma, as usual, fought bravely with other kids along the parade route to grab gum, moon pies, stuffed animals, and beads. She did pretty good...going home with a sackful of beads, a cup and 2 stuffed animals!

Happy Birthday Emma!

Emma Turns 4

(PICTURES COMING SOON)...

Sunday was Emma's 4th birthday! Wow...where does time go? Seems like yesterday she was born at the hospital, and now she is turning into a wonderful little girl.

Mom threw her a really nice birthday at Paint-n-Pals in West Mobile. Some of her neighborhood and church friends came and painted pictures on canvas and got to take them home. All Emma kept asking was when she could finger paint! Too funny...

After the kids finished their artwork, cake and ice cream were enjoyed by all, followed by a nice gift unwrapping session. Emma got some much-need clothes, some cool toys (Barbie and LeapFrog, among others), a new bathing suit, a cupcake maker/cooking set, and some MONEY!

Happy Birthday, Emma! We all love you very much :)

Beach Day

Emma and I went to the beach on Saturday, since the sun finally came back out and the humidity was cut in half. Only bad part, didn't swim much as I saw a couple of sharks near shore, and the purple flags were out warning swimmers of the sharks in the water. So, Emma dug herself a hole in the sand and chilled out...and then after lunch, played on a water slide for the next few hours. All told, a good 6 hour day at the beach!

Mary Ann and Kris were attending a wedding in Santa Rosa Beach, and they invited me and Emma to come over for the weekend! What a blast. We must do that again, except over more days...

Picture Day at Dance

The recital is now about 6 weeks away, and the whole class got their pictures taken today. Here is Emma in her recital outfit. Don't worry, a professional photographer took her picture, and it is for sale, and her pose will also appear in the recital program.

Beach Day

The weather is turning warm enough now, that beach visits are in order. The water is still waaay to cold to swim in yet, but there seems to be a consistent breeze that makes kite flying ideal. So, that is what Emma and I did down at Dauphin Island this past Saturday. Here is a pic of me and her flying an Elmo kite. CAUTION: do not buy the Elmo kite!!! It cost 4 dollars and now I see why after the way it flew. Invest in the more high-tech kites for more enjoyment....

Emma and the Elberta Sausage Festival

Saturday was sunny and crisp, so Emma and I took a little road trip to get out of the house! We headed down to Elberta, AL for the semi-annual Sausage Festival. The festival is a fund raiser for the Volunteer Fire Dept of Elberta. We DID NOT get any sausage :( The 8 or so lines were 50 people deep all day. So, Emma and I checked out the booths and the arts and crafts and rode the ferris wheel and merry-go-round.
